Philippe Goldin, PhD, is an associate professor at UC Davis and leads the Clinically Applied Affective Neuroscience Laboratory. His team is currently engaged in (a) basic research on the brain networks that differentiate focused attention, empathy, and compassion for self and others; (b) clinical research on the neural bases of different types of emotion regulation in adults with anxiety disorders and chronic pain disorders; and (c) clinical intervention research examining the brain and behavioral mechanisms of therapeutic change during cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and compassion cultivation training in healthy adults, as well as adults with anxiety and chronic pain disorders.
