Sin-Tung Chiu began winning awards in violin and chamber music at the age of 12, while studying violin with Chung-On Chan in Hong Kong. Sin-Tung, an alumnus of Dartmouth College, the Juilliard School, Teachers College of Columbia University, Meadowmount Summer School of Music, and the Aspen Music Festival and School, studied violin at Juilliard with Dorothy DeLay and Ivan Galamian and chamber music with Robert Mann and Claus Adam of the Juilliard String Quartet and Felix Galimir. He later performed in master classes of Nathan Milstein at Juilliard in New York and Ruggiero Ricci in Victoria, Canada. As a founding violinist of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra in New York City, Sin-Tung performed in concerts at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center and participated in tours throughout North and South America, Europe, India, Israel, and Puerto Rico, including sponsorships by Department of State. In San Francisco, Sin-Tung has taught violin at Community Music Center since 1988 and served on the Faculty Council (2007–2010 and 2012–2015). Sin-Tung also taught violin at Chinese American International School. Recent activities include solo recitals and violin master classes for El Sistema Youth Orchestra in Hong Kong and performances in Australia.
