Lower School Math and Computer Science Specialist
Lora Saarnio has taught K-12 humanities, math and science. She previously taught high school English and middle school math and science; currently, she works with students in Grades 1-5 as a Math and Computer Science Specialist at The Nueva School. Lora is also Director Emerita of the Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival (JRMF); she has helped to logistically and mathematically prepare math festivals across the US and internationally. She co-led the first JRMF in China and India. 

She has also served as faculty for Epsilon Camp, an advanced mathematics camp for students who are passionate about math. Lora is actively involved with Math Circles — in recent years, she has been a guest speaker for Stanford, Santa Cruz, Synapse, Bullis Charter School, New Dehli, and Nueva Math Circles. In addition, she is the recipient of the Sarah D. Barder Fellowship, a national teaching award from Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth.
