The Nueva School
Upper and Middle School Writing and Humanities Teacher
Nueva writing teacher Jennifer Perry is an educator with twenty-plus years of wide-ranging experience teaching students in public and independent schools at middle school, high school, and university levels. A native Delawarean, she studied history and English at the University of Delaware and began her career working for then–U.S. Senator Joseph Biden. After two years in Washington, DC, she realized that the classroom called and returned to school to earn a master’s degree in curriculum, instruction, technology, and education from Temple University. As a teacher, Jennifer has found that her greatest satisfaction has come from inculcating a passion for reading and writing in her students through the exploration of great literature. Jennifer has also led students as the faculty sponsor of the Gay Straight Alliance at numerous schools over two decades. In 2012 Jennifer completed a second graduate degree, an MLA in liberal studies at Villanova University, with a focus on Shakespeare and theater. Jennifer appears at the ILC as a member of the panel discussion on using emerging technology to establish cultural exchanges and authentic peer audiences between schools.
