Ericka Fur, Learning Support Consultant, holds a BA in English literature and psychology from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and a higher diploma of secondary education from the University of Cape Town. She also holds an MS in learning disabilities from Bank Street College and a doctorate in educational leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University. Ericka began educational work 25 years ago as a middle and high school English teacher, then as a school-based learning specialist, and then as a clinician working in an interdisciplinary agency that serves children’s learning and emotional needs. She was an instructor in the Stanford Teacher Education Program for 13 years, where she taught classes on supporting students with special needs. She is a school coach for the Stanford Challenge Success organization and is a private educational consultant to schools in the Bay Area, the New York Metropolitan area and Paris. Her current areas of interest are student motivation and engagement, differentiated instruction and Universal Design for Learning, the interconnectedness of learning and social emotional learning, and teacher education.
