Ericka Fur, Nueva’s educational support coordinator, holds a BA in English literature and psychology from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and a higher diploma of secondary education from the University of Cape Town. She also holds an MS in learning disabilities from Bank Street College and a doctorate in educational leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University. Ericka began educational work 25 years ago as a middle and high school English teacher, then as a school-based learning specialist, and then as a clinician working in an interdisciplinary agency that serves children’s learning and emotional needs. She has been an instructor in the Stanford Teacher Education Program since 2003, where she teaches two classes on supporting students with special needs. She is also a school coach for the Stanford Challenge Success organization and is a private educational consultant to Bay Area schools. Her current areas of interest lie in student motivation and engagement, differentiated instruction and assessment, and teacher education.
