Erin Metcalf joined the Nueva community in 2014. Beginning as an associate teacher in first and second grade, this is now her fourth year as a lead teacher in third grade. She is passionate about student-centered instruction, social-emotional learning, and Structured Word Inquiry. Graduating from the University of Virginia Curry School of Education in 2014 with a Master of Teaching concentrating in elementary education, she received the Outstanding New Teacher Award in recognition of her academic strengths and contributions to the classroom. Erin looks forward to further promoting teacher education in Structured Word Inquiry by opening up her classroom to demo lessons and sharing her hands-on experiences at professional development events.
